Darby Development Company, Inc. was established by R. Gordon Darby in 1968. He began in real estate sales. From there, Mr. Darby made the transition to building as well as selling single-family homes.

That transition led to another, in that he began a career in the multi-family industry following his success in the single-family arena. Thirty-seven years later, the senior management team now consists of Mr. Darby, Robert Darby, Jr., as Maintenance Superintendent; Victoria Cowart, CPM, as Vice President of Property Management; Ann Grizzle, as Comptroller; Roger Jackson, as Assistant Maintenance Superintendent; and Summer Shown as Senior Property Manager.

The portfolio now consists of twenty multi-family communities including conventional apartments, subsidized apartments, and mobile home communities.
